Local agriculture and healthy food on the menu

Supporting local production and healthy food for people and the planet

Since 2008, Club Med, in partnership with AGRISUD, promotes local extensive agriculture and agro-ecology near several of its resorts. This partnership aims to support very small farms to develop them in a viable and sustainable way nearby Club Med sites. Hundreds of producers are trained to apply the principles of environmentally-friendly agriculture and benefit from support and training in the management of their production. Producers can access new markets, such as Club Med, and look to the future with greater confidence. As a result our buffets are enhanced with tasty, fresh and healthy products produced locally!

Since the origin of our partnership with Agrisud, Club Med has been supporting nearly 500 producers near to 8 of its Resorts: Morocco (Marrakech), Senegal (Cap Skirring), Mauritius (La Pointe aux Canonniers and Albion), Brazil (Rio das Pedras and Lake Paradise), Indonesia (Bali) and China (Guillin).

The projects embodied in Brazil, Senegal, Morocco, Tunisia and Indonesia present many advantages: reinforcing local purchasing, agroecological practices, fresh and local quality products, consolidating the growers’ economic independence, reducing the carbon footprint, promoting human exchanges between producers and G.M.

Club Med Green Farmers, our agroecological programme managed with the Agrisud NGO in favour of local family farming. It is one of the 16 selected case studies which will be presented during the One Planet Sustainable Tourism Summit of United Nations in 2019.

This program is vastly recognized for its successful sustainable management practices within the tourism sector.
