Supporting local communities
FIGHTING CHILD ABUSE IN TOURISM WITH ECPAT
Preventing child sexual exploitation in collaboration with the ECPAT organization since 2005:
- Raising awareness among G.Ms travelling to critical countries
- Supporting in situ NGOs which help homeless children (social and family reinsertion)
Since 2008, the Responsible Traveler’s Charter is displayed and given out to G.Ms in our Resorts to invite them to discover and respect nature, culture and locals.
G.Ms’ awareness is also risen through posters placed in the rooms.
LOCAL EMPLOYMENT AND PURCHASING
Nearly 75% of the jobs created by Club Med are filled locally
Because of the variety of activities offered in a Club Med Resort, the number of jobs created is higher than in the traditional hotel industry.
On average, 86% of purchases (goods and materials) made by a Resort are bought from local suppliers.
If the local supplier imports a non-assessable part of his products, this average testifies Club Med’s ambition to work with local partners, producers or distributors as much as possible.
